I'm gearing up to install my new Bavsound Stage 1 speaker upgrade so I wanted to see if anyone has done the upgrade themselves? I'll be upgrading the Premium "Top" hifi replacing the center channel, 4 door speaker sets, and the surround speakers in the D pillars. If anyone has done the same how did the install go and how did you replace the D pillar speakers? Judging by what I can see I'll need to remove the trim panels to get to them vs. prying off the mesh speaker grill. I have all the requisite panel removal tools, replacement clips, etc. but I'm still a little gun shy about prying in random places in fear of breaking off a tab or causing damage...

Having done this on my E46 and E90 I would advise to take you time. Especially with pieces that pop out. I broke 2 "clips" and, though they weren't fit altering, I got lucky.

Thanks! Actually broke down and had them installed professionally by a Bavsound dealer. I actually struggled with removing the door panels on the rear doors because of the roll up blinds so at that point I had enough incentive to outsource. Luckily they had availability the day of so didn't have to wait.

What year is your X3? Are you referring to the tweeters when you say D pillar speakers? I just had my system upgraded with Focal K2 Power 100 mids & tweets. See my recent posts if you are interested. Enjoy your new system and the ride.
