More than just a Wiper Problem
My 2014 X3 had a bad wiper problem that cant be solved by pushing up the wiper controls for 3 secs with the engines off. The metal lever under the hood that mechanically controls both wiper blades can get displaced causing the wipers to stay in vertical position when turned off, and worse, causing the rubber fitting of the lower edge of the widshield to get partially detached. In case you have this problem, and you decide to solve it yourself, there's a simple solution i can share....

Engine off. Open hood. Theres a perforated plastic at the upper left hand corner which you can unclip and remove. Thru this, you can see towards the middle a flat metal rod/lever that connects both wipers. (It moves up and down when wipers are in use)Its displaced upwards so just pull it down firmly. If you are not sure which rod im referring to, remove the wipers including its metal brace and turn the wiper on -- now you can see the rod moving at 9 to 12 oclock position instead of 9 to 6 oclock. This is the lever you can firmly push down with the wipers off.
