What's new between 2015 & 2017 F25?

I've got a 2015 X3 35i I'm looking to get out of a lease early with - dealer is offering some pretty deep discounts on 2017 F25 - thoughts on whether a good priced 2017 is worth skipping on the G01?

Thanks!

I presume your current X3 2015 is an LC1 therefore other than the idrive I don't believe there is much difference to the 2017? I went from a pre-LC1 to a 2017 and the difference was massive (new front end, improved dash etc) which justified the change.

If I was in your shoe's I would go for the GO1

go for G01, see review of the 30i and M40i in the G01 forums. Only issue of being an early adopter you will have to deal with 1st year production niggles

In my view, you should wait for the G01. Although some people say there are massive differences between the F25 Pre-LCI, and the LCI, in my opinion they are overstating the facts.

There are some differences with the dashboard and with the front end lights, but some are saying the LCI is now looking old. Not my wording, but being stated in blogs. See link below. Also once in the vehicle you will soon get used to the slight differences in the dashboard, and of course as you know whilst driving you will not see the front.

You will note that the G01 has gone back to the F25 Pre-LCI type of headlight layout where they do not connect to the front grills. This separation is also evident with the later F48 X1.

Edited. Having reread your post, I see your 2015 is an LCI. That reinforces my view that you should wait for the G01. The new X3 is a totally different car with regards to the latest technology. Having said that, it appears from current released material for the G01 that the 6 cylinder petrol engine is only to be in the 40i version and that the 3.0i is a 4 pot 2 litre petrol engine. That might impact on your purchasing decisions. Good old BMW confusing the labels again.

Good link for interested forum readers...

Thanks for the input, everyone. Definitely some to think about - buy a '17 at a good price, but already outdated, or wait and get the new one (which is what I'd like, but it may be out of my price range). Decisions, decisions...

Exactly. I wanted the 2017 x3 Msport and everyone told me I should wait for the M40i. Sounded like a good idea until prices were released. The M40i with all of the same bells and whistles my X3 has is like $62k. Way out of my price range.

I ended up with a 2017 F31 Msport in Alpine White. Not much in the ways of selection on the 17 F25s left on the lot, and the F31 had some good end of MY discounts too - so bonus: lower payment!

Congrats. Discounts on 3-Series are mega. BMW want to sell as many as they possibly can. I'm considering a G20 3-Series touring to replace my X3, but only if it's available as a hybrid or electric powertrain.

Recent purchase, I got $3k off sticker price for my 2017 x3 Msport and had them add an additional $2k onto what they offered me for my old car. All and all I think I made out well.

My wife recently bought a Mercedes GLC 300 and the Finance Manager (a good friend of mine) told me that the profit they make on that small SUV is around $7,800. I am guessing it is about the same for the X3 so I probably could have managed to get it down a little lower.

It is my reaction to the price. I find it laughable. I don't doubt your comment but I don't consider the cost reasonable as compared with other options like the 2017 F25 another poster recommended. In recent weeks I am noticing more and more of them - fully loaded - on the market with 5,000 miles and much less at not much more than half that $62K number. That is why it made me laugh. The reason for the heavily discounted inventory is of course the new model. I personally choose to avoid paying a premium to discover bugs and defects but I wish those who do it the best of luck.
