Realistic milage for a set of tyres?

Changing my 4 Pirelli runflats that I had from new on Monday, had a good check and they are down to about 1.6mm all round.

What milage are you getting from a set and are any brands better than others?

I've opted for same again as I haven't had a problem with the ones I've had.

For what it's worth my car has done 22,000 Miles.

Actually I just placed an order with Tire Rack yesterday. Much cheaper with them vs. local purchase (around $300 LESS!!). In any event, I decided to replace the Pirelli's with Bridgestone's 245/50/18RFT RE960AS (after 44,000kms), even though there was roughly about 5,000km left on the tire (according to BMW SA). I'm replacing them primarily because they got VERY loud and couldn't stand it any longer.

As for mileage, city was so-so at around 26mpg, and highway was much better, just north of 32mpg.

We have outer cupping on the front tires on our '13 X3 35i w/ DHP after only 15k miles. Anyone else having front tire cupping issues with the Pirelli all season RFT's?

Cheers

I don't think it has to do with RFT, so much as what they choose for OEM use (i.e. low cost). My '09 C300 only got 22K mi on the stock Conti's. Rears were done but a little left on fronts, with even wear all around so alignment was not an issue. These were non-RFT tires. A new set of Conti DWS Extreme faired much better.

I too just ordered the Bridgestone's 245/50/18RFT RE960AS from Costco. The Pirelli P7s are worn down to the wear bars after 22K miles of mainly city driving.

Pirelli P-Zeros, 17k miles, variation is small, 4mm to 5mm across the tread. This is from a very recent BMW dealer check.

My driving is city and rural with 3k to 4k on motorways.

I would have expected them to last at least through Tuesday or Wednesday

Pirelli RFT life

My OE set lasted 28K miles, they had 4 mm left to the bars, but were noisy and rough riding at this level. Replaced with 960AS , first trip very quiet, smooth, in fact these are the best RFT I have had (1 stones, 2 rellis before these) and they were 30 pct cheaper than the P7 OE replacements. Had a long conversation with Pirelli Customer Service, about the poor life of these tires (at retail they have a 40,000 mile tread life warranty), they have a liturgy of excuses - tire pressure, alignment, rotation, driving style, for the short life. ROL....

Of all the run flat tires that Tire Rack has for my car, the Pirelli P7 all season tires that came with it have the highest UTQG tread wear rating of 500. The next longest wearing tire (960AS) is rated 400.
