Navigation not currently available

I love my new 3.0d X3 - so quiet and powerful and a great place to be. But...

I have the pro multimedia system. Today I started the car and the iDrive Nav started to boot but then reported "Navigation function not currently available" and it was greyed out on the main menu. Nothing seemed to be able to get it back. I had to stop to drop someone off and switched off, locked the car and phoned the dealer. They didn't have a technician to hand, so I left a message. I then reopened and restarted the car and the nav was working.

Anybody else had this happen? Is there a more elegant/reliable way to make the idrive retstart?

Thanks

During Prepping X3 prior to the delivery, dealer does reboot the entire system, may be yours was not done and you did it yourself. Contact dealer if you notice other issues later.

Were you in the same location each time? The car can potentially be parked in a location where it can't get a strong GPS signal.

Re. resetting hard drive, try holding power button for about 30 seconds
