uploading music into HD

Hey. I can't seem to figure out how to upload music from my USB into my X3. The manual states that there is supposed to be a USB hub in the glove compartment, but there isn't one. I read online that you might have to have the Navigation Package in order to have that feature.

Regardless, does this mean that my vehicle doesn't come with a hard drive sound system? They also gave me a black iPod-like USB cable. What should I do with it? Thanks

You only get a hard drive with the Sat Nav Pro. You should have a USB socket in your arm rest for playing MP3 from a USB device.

Yes. I do not have the NAV package and therefor no USB socket in the glovebox. There is one in the center console. I loaded my music onto a 32g USB thumb drive and leave that in the socket.

Man looks like the salesman misled me. He told me that I was getting a 12 GB hard drive sound system... Leaving a USB in the hub in the center console isn't a big issue, but how can you put stuff inside if there's a USB sticking out in the middle of the storage space???

There is no such thing as a "hard drive sound system". That phrase is blending two things. With the NAV you get a hard drive. You can load music on the hard drive two play on the sound system. Without NAV you just need to connect something like an iPod or iPhone and play from there. No big deal.

A small addition to Nahoa's comment:

If you have the small NAVI with the 6.5" screen, you don't get the harddrive.
If you have the big NAVI with the 8.8" screen, you do get the harddrive.

I got a very small 32g USB stick for under $30 and a flexible stalk for another $10. It's out of the way leaving lots of room for small binoculars and camera etc. Only downside to the USB versus iPod stick is not smart enough to ignore "the" in front of band names so I have to do a little editing
