Automatic car washes

Just bought a 2013 X3 and the quick start guide is very confusing with its instructions about driving into automatic car washes. It says to put the transmission in neutral then turn off the engine and then to turn on the ignition. Can't I just put it in neutral and drive on through with the engine running like any other car?

I would think so.....I occasionally take my 2012 X3 28i thru auto wash and just put tyranny in neutral with motor running and the track system pulls the car through just fine.

Don't forget that you'll still need to press the brake pedal to put the gear select lever back into drive when you get to the end of the track to drive off.
