Just ordered M-Sport!
Hey all,
Well, just pulled the trigger. Order is in. I'm hoping to be able to do PCD by June 30, so we'll see. I'm doing the lease pull ahead and I need to take possession by 6/30. Will find out next week when the dealer submits the order. BTW, highly recommend Bruce and Tom (manager) at BMW of Newport. Super easy and fun to deal with. On to the good stuff! XDrive 28i I had a last minute change of heart and went with the Apline White rather then Space Grey...I hope I made the right decision. Interior is Saddle with Fineline Anthracite. I knew I wanted Saddle interior more than anything, so that drove the exterior choices (lighter colors only). Black gloss rails/roof rails M-Sport (love the look) Premium (need that Sirius radio, lol) Cold Weather (cold here in NE) Heating steering included I believe Dynamic Handling (super excited about this) Technology (loved the heads up) Driver's Assistance (camera is very useful) Lighting (safety equipment to me) Harmon Kardon (sounds great in my current car) Bluetooth Advanced (had to get it with Tech, otherwise would have skipped) So, pretty loaded but I couldn't help myself! I'm coming out of a 2011 335 M-Sport X-Drive with the Performance Pack, so I'm sure I'll miss that power. My hope is the Dynamic Handling will make up in the fun department for the lack of horsepower/torque. The 335 just had the base drive suspension, so....we'll see. I'll keep this post updated as I get info. Question for you all, does BMW still take the photos of your car as it's being built and update you? I remember reading about that a few years ago but not much since. |

I did the pull ahead two weeks ago and picked up a 2014 3.5 with every conceivable option. Very pleased with it and its a much stronger vehicle when compared to my 2011 2.8 in so many ways.
Enjoy! Quote:

Hopefully you got to thoroughly test both the 28i and 35i. I guess your priority is to get better mileage than your current 335i. I think the price difference is reasonable. However, majority choose 28i. Very soon, enjoy.

Honestly, I did not test drive the 35. I was afraid to, LOL. Ignorance is bliss in this case...
Plus, we already have a 328 with the N20 and I really like the engine, so I know this will be fine. |

Question guys...I was obsessively checking my order (shocking) and I noticed my online configuration lists LED lighting, which I did not order. I only ordered the Xenon. Do you think this is a mistake in the configuration on the website, or a factory bonus?

Sometime for whatever reason the site is not accurate. When I placed my 2011 order the color was incorrect for most of the production.

Sounds like my car might be going late. I called the BMW Genius number today. The estimated completion date is still tomorrow, 5/20. However, I was told the car still shows no updated statuses (paint, body, assembly, etc). It was suggested I call back in a few days to see whats what.
Bummer as I need the car to be produced before I can schedule the PDC prior to June 30. Getting very tight... |

So, my dealer called today and PCD has told him based on the 5/20 estimated completion they'd like to schedule a 6/3 PCD! Talk about a fast turnaround...lol. It's so fast I didn't block out time in June until last half. So, we've settled on a 6/19 PCD Delivery date. Now just need the X3 to be finished...

Yeah, that is pretty terrible. Having said that, the reverse occurs for most other BMW models made in Europe so its tough to feel too bad.

Lol, well I appreciate the offer. I wonder where they store them... At the factory area or the PDC.

She's done! Status is awaiting carrier to port of exit. I assume that's just a generic status as I'm doing the PDC. not bad though... 10 days from order creation to production completion.
Now I just need to have the name sorted out. I was given 3 choices, lol. All southern names. Dixie, Blanche or Shelby. What say you guys? (the X5 we had was named Bubba, which I loved) Last edited by riguy; 05-21-2014 at 07:49 PM.. |

On the 2015 M Sport X3s, are those big air intakes below the fog lights functional for brake cooling or something, or are they just blanked off with black plastic (fake) like the ones on my 2013?
