Extended or Long Haul Drives in the X3...
Our cars are all pretty new but I was wondering if anyone has taken an extended drive (1000 miles plus) in their new X3?
If so, how did the X3 perform. Any issues. Comfort. Any "off road" driving beyond the occasional gravel road... OR... If you are planning on taking an extended drive where are you going to go. |

I've done a couple of nine hour 550 mile trips IL > KS. Very comfortable seats no fatigue. Seats better than 2016 X1 and 2011 X3. The tech is nice like the reading the speed limits.

Ive done 3 7 hour 500 mile trips to Florida now with the ventilated seats and the car was great on the trip. The car drove most of the way to Florida and got around 33 mpg doing about 76 mph most of the way. I also do a 2 hour trip to the mountains every week. The car is everything I wanted in a luxurious trip car. The semi autonomous driving really makes the trip a lot less stressful.

Btw, I do use eco pro on long trips because it does utilize a coasting feature which disengages the drivetrain when possible. |

I'll be driving from Calgary to La Quinta California starting tomorrow with a hatch full of things my wife wants in our home there. I will report on my mileage although I expect it to be poor given the car is still within the break in period.

Following a Perf Ctr Delivery in April. Did a 700 mile run back home - SC to IN. Just me and an overnite bag as my companion had to fly back for work. Tried to vary the speed on the brand new motor from 70-75 but averaged 32+ mpg all the way home using top tier gas - Shell, Phillips 66. etc. I was pleased with that.
In July we'll be doing a round trip to our FL condo which is 1100 miles each way. Anxious to see how she performs with the wife, daughter and dog on board. Will report back. |

Just did 750 miles mostly in pouring rain. Back was loaded up and had a cross/headwind off and on. Average was 24.9 mpg with an average speed of about 78 mph. About 50/50 between eco pro and comfort settings. I had it in sport for some twisty bits in Montana. Used Exxon 91 today.
This car is amazing. Had it over 100 and did not realize my speed. Through Utah, Nevada and California tomorrow. Interested to see how it does in the heat.

I just finished 3,800 miles in 11 days. 3 people, no problems at all, very comfortable 25 mpg mixing interstates, 2 lane rural routes and an excursion into NY City on Friday afternoon. With the expanded cruise control and associated automatic stuff it's a breeze on major highways. In Canada the HUD showed speed limits in KPH.
