Conflicting 'Trip' computers

Something I've been noticing since putting the Trip computer on my main menu is that the info on it compared to what the Connected app sends me after I complete a journey are different. It's the fuel consumption I'm ultimately interested in.

Today I took care to reset the iDrive one manually before I pulled out of my driveway, and took details when I got back home. As expected, I got a notification on my phone about the trip, but the info doesn't match.

iDrive Trip Computer
Consumption: 10.0 l/100km
Average Speed: 18.1 km/h
Distance: 34km
Trip Time: 2h 00m

Connected Drive
Fuel Used: 2.7L
Average Speed: 15 km/h
Distance: 34km
Trip Time: 2h 09m

They both agree on the actual distance, so the apps fuel consumption would equate to 7.9l/100km and 20% different to what iDrive thinks. That sounds about right as it was a rainy day so I kept engine running while stationary etc for the A/C.

The extra trip time in the app maybe is because it waits 10 mins before deciding your trip is over. Maybe, I'm guessing. And the extra time would NEARLY explain the different average speeds.

But with one saying 7.9 L/100 and the other 10.0, I wonder which is correct?

Maybe the app starts it's calculation from the moment you turn on the car...and you had it running a few minutes at both ends of the trip...so it used a big more fuel.
