Uk - best stategy to trade up?

After 5 months of Joy from my 20d M sport, I'm looking around for a used 35d or may wait for a new 28i. Reason - want more options and power.

List price was £42k and the stealers are offering typically £37k and they admit they can turn around quickly for near list! So against a £47k replacement car, theres £10k to change. What's the best way to narrow the gap? Sell mine first through Autotrader, eBay, etc. to become a cash buyer, or other?

Cheers Max.

Have you tried www.wewillbuyyourcar.com.
Will give you more room for discount on a new one
I sold them my X6 Jan 11, got more than the BMW dealer was offering.
Use ref - 171488879 to receive £25 markie's vouchers if you do.

Private add in Auto Trader, nice photos of a clean car and it will move for more than a dealer, close the gap for you I hope

If you don't want the hassle of dealing with joe public via autotrader, try www.dealerbid.co.uk

I have just been through similar situation I had mini countryman all4 and wanted to trade in for x3 but the dealer offered me 17k for a 5 month old car. So I decided to sell on autotrader and ended up selling for 20k just 2k less than what I paid 5months ago. I am really happy with it and would definitely recommend having a go on private selling. But the only problem is you will end up with no car until you get your new one, luckily I have access to my wife's Chevy.

Thumbs down

Oh I forgot to mention do not sell your car to places like webuyanycar.com as they will rip you off, they offered me 4k less than what I sold mine for.

I too want to do the same as I found the engine of 20d too noisy, but like the rest of the car, mini is also a 20d msport auto, 7 months old. I can live with a 30d, but may still go for 35d as difference in price is small.
