2011 X3 door lock issue

When I turn off engine of my 2011 X3 328i, the driver's door will be unlocked automatically but the back seat's door always keep locked. I have to press the unlock button on dash board or use the remote to unlock the door! Very incovenient.... I the manual but can't find an option to change this. Does anyone know the solution?

Thanks!

Haha. Sorry, can't help but laugh when say having to push a button to unlock the doors is very inconvenient. We've come a long way from the days when we actually had to pull up the doodad on each door to unlock it. :^)

I'm still back in the stone age (2009 GTI) myself, so only having to push one button doesn't seem so bad.

Can the rear seat passengers not open their doors by pulling the handle?

Passengers needing the driver to unlock the door for them sounds like a police car.

It's for safety. If you are parking and all the doors unlock someone could jump in the car. That's what I was told by the dealer when I bought my first X3. It is a bit inconvenient, but I personally appreciate that feature.

Child Safety Lock engaged? What happens if you try the internal door handle twice?
Thanks for reply. Maybe i didn't state the issue correctly. Passenger can open the door inside but I can't open back door from outside. My other old cars will unlock all doors after parking and I can just open back door from outside. Maybe it's a safety consideration. I am so used to old habits, always forget to push the unlock button and had to go inside again!

Good point! Seems I need to live with it. Hope BMW can add a selection in the software to make it optional.

It already is optional. You can go into the settings to have the driver door open or all of them.

+1 It's easy to change. Settings - Locks

Thanks for replying. I just checked manual and iDrive-setting-door lock. The 'all door' open is for unlock button, not for turning off engine or shifting to parking. Any option to unlock all doors after engine stops?

There's no automatic unlock for any of the doors. Best solution: disable automatic lock.
