Alpine or anyone else, do you happen to know the offset of the 18" wheels? I will be placing my order within the next week for a delivery of around late January/early Februrary and need to get snow tires. I'm ordering the 19" wheels so summer tires won't cut it here in Chicago. I'm assuming it is close to the outgoing X3's +42mm offset but would like a more definitive answer and I don't think the dealer will know until they get their demo car.

My dealer is reporting an offset of 43mm. Note that this is the same dealer that is reporting 5x125 bolt pattern which seems ridiculous. The part number for the 18" rim is 36 11 6 787 578. I think they got the 43mm part right because I see it in the Part Supplement.

I have the same problem as you (getting 19" summers in a city that gets snow) except our X3 could be here by early January. Dealer has no demo/showroom model and I don't believe that they have gone to a 5x125 bolt pattern so I am hoping somebody who has already taken delivery can measure it for me so I can get the wheels in motion (literally).

Found a tire dealer in Norway who had F25 in the "menue" but
check with you dealer before purchase.

Bolt pattern: 5-120
Bolt size:|12x1,50
Innpress (ET): 43
Navhull (CB): 72,5

Dealer is now reporting 5x120 bolt pattern. 5x125 was for the bolts. Good thing I didn't take their original word and go out and buy wheels with 5x125 bolt pattern. Not that there are many wheels out there with 5x125 bolt pattern.

Thanks for the feedback!

The question about the headlights:
I was wondering about the purpose of the inside couple of the headlight lenses. There are 2 lenses in each headlight. Lower and high beams are integrated in the outside lenses. So what for are the inside lenses then?! Just design or may be there is a turning light (lightning the side when turn)?

X3 xDrive30d gets six-pot turbo diesel also with 258 hp for Europe

BMW is just bone headed. The SUV-crazed US market gets no diesel. Why?

The diesel X5 is very popular in the US, far more popular than BMW expected, so why no diesel X3? I wouldn't give up my 335i for a diesel, but in an SUV, I honestly wont buy a gasoline model if I could have a diesel, it just makes so much sense. Common BMW wake up already and stop rationing cars. I am keeping my RAV4 for another couple of years until there is a diesel alternative from Q5 or X3. If none of those materialize, I will consider the X5 diesel.

I've been clarifying this lightning question in local bmw club, so there is an opinion that, when you have bi-xenon and adaptive lightning installed, these inside lenses are used for the turning lights (light a side when turn).

I got also another question sorted out meanwhile.. Regarding the rear lights. Each rear light set consists of two parts (one is located on the car body and the other is on the boot lid).. When you don't have bi-xenon installed, you have only partial indicators lights (these cute red lines) working located on the car body. But when you have bi-xenon, indicators lights are working on the both sides of the rear light set. May be it's only for RF market? Happy owners, could you check, please?

That would be 100% reasonable! E70 X5 3.0d is a very good option and really not far away from the top X3 config $. For example we have F25 X3 35i top config price around 105kUSD. And E70 X5 3.0d (Special series - "Luxury pack" with a lot of features inside) will cost you 110kUSD.
But if you're considering F25 2.0 diesel, then you can get it much cheaper than E70 of course...

If the 30d or even the 20d were available here now, I'd have already put in an order, but as it stands I'm holding out to see what happens. It's very hard to be patient though, as I am very tempted by the 35i, but have not pulled the trigger on that as of yet.

For those interested in the lighting: the LEDs with the Xenons look cool (and the dynamic Xenons are very effective), and the light package is useful (lights on door handles, puddle lights and the door bins are lit).

Sorry for the photo quality (iPhone)
So w/o the int light package, the window up/down buttons aren't lit up? Really?

The window lift switches are on all cars - the items referenced are added with the lights package.

Smile 20D engine noise

Very nice car!
How noisy is the 20D engine inside the car under moderate acceleration?
Is the noise intrusive?
I understand that its quiet when crusing, but hope it not too bad in city driving.

I also noticed the engine noise when standing next to the 20d car. It is a real concern for me as it's so noisy and off putting! Am I expecting too much?

When driving, there is less noise but I can still hear whiny noises.

I don't want to be driving around in the streets and everyone is looking at you weird because of the engine noise.....

Inside: Moderate is fine, once the engine has warmed up full acceleration is also fine. A colleague's Audi Q5 (with bluetec) does seem quieter though.

Outside: Noisy at ticker compared with 5 series installation.

I haven't been getting any weird looks. Just admiring looks. Maybe they're just checking out the wife.

There's no mistaking it for a petrol car but the noise is acceptable. I noticed it during the first two weeks because I haven't driven a diesel in a long time. I'm used to it now.

Diesels are becoming popular nowadays, specially the golf diesels. Most X5s I've seen are diesels.

Happens all the time with my 335i vert, even when driving really slowly. The diesels will be much quieter (mine will be a 3.0D)
