X3 wont start, its pretty cold out - Turns over slowly sputters and dies
My X3 hasn't been able to start for two days now in pretty frigid weather (-35c). At first I thought it was the battery so I left the charger on over night and it still wouldn't start. I then went and bought another battery put it in and have the same problem.
When I try to start the car it is very slow to turn over, it makes a sputtering sound and almost starts but then dies. I popped the hood and noticed that fresh oil is leaking from the part in the picture, I'm wondering if that is the problem?

It is your oil filter, whenever oil is leaking it should be addresses, so def a problem. I can't tell from the pic where it is coming from, but either filter or oil cooler gasket popped.. -35 man that's cold..

Turns out I flooded the engine and fouled my plugs, they were black. Changed the plugs and oil and its all good. Decided to install an oil pan heater while at it.

A common problem is when cars have been sitting a couple of days in very low temperature. Water in the tank or fuel filter will then freeze and block the fuel supply so the engine may start but not run.
