adding Sirius to F25 with navigation?
Hi All - I am contemplating an F25 with navigation w/o Sirius. I want to have Sirius, however, they claim it costs $605 to program my car to "activate" Sirius. Is this all software to upgrade to Sirius? Has anyone done this? If so, what did y'all pay?

I was quoted $690. 3 something for the sat radio (software enabling, I think) and the rest was labor. They seemed very concerned that they'd have to devote extra tech time to it since they had no experience programming this car. Wondering if they'll ease up on the labor cost once they have someone on the floor who knows how one works!

Sirus
Definately get the factory option as it includes one year subscription which is worth $100+. On the old X3 the Sirus module sold for $550 and installation was arround $100. Sounds like they are using the numbers from the prior generation X3 (I had Sirus on my 2006 and 2008 X3's)

I was wondering the same thing. I thought I read somewhere that all 2011+ were either prewired for XM or it was ready for XM and all you had to do was buy an activation code (includes 1 year / best of XM ~200$ 16.99?mo + tax)
the option from the factory is 350$ |

I’m thinking of using the Bluetooth streaming option via my cell phone for XM. Any thoughts on that? |

Bluetooth streaming (from my iPhone) of Pandora and Sirius works on my X3 (w/ Nav) but it has to be controlled via the phone with a decent 3G signal. Also, I think you still need to have an XM/Sirius streaming account, which, I believe, requires a regular XM/Sirius account. I went with the Sirius option from the factory, which makes things MUCH easier.

When I was configuring an X3 with different sales reps I asked them if I needed the Sat Radio option from BMW or if I could just work with Sirius when I decided to activate it. They said I could just work with Sirius as the radios just need the activation code. Hopefully they were telling me the truth. Anybody out there that didn't order the sat option and had Sirius available for a trial period? If you had it for a trial that tells me that you just need a code.
