I'm looking to get a x3 2014 or newer, struggling with these thoughts.

2.0 v 3.0 48mpg v 35 o-60 8 seconds sounds (for 2.0) sounds OK?

I prefer the msport look but people says it's very hard (crap UK roads etc) what's the x-line like in comparison?

It's love vdc but super rare on used cars anyone got any input on how essential and can it easily be fitted to used cars? How much?

I want something a fair bit softer than my a4 for driving to Northumberland but still a car not a boat on corners

My car is a audi a4 s-line 2.0 diesel avant 58 plate for comparison.

Hi, I've recently acquired a 2016 2.0d X Line, and couldn't be happier! As previous car was a 2014 120d M sport, i was a bit worried about losing that zip and handling, but no such issues. It powers it way thru up to the legal 'ish cruising speeds with no issues at all, especially in sport mode, when you get more of zip from engine and exhaust!. So smooth, very quiet , even though it has run flats. MPG i'm averaging about 43, with mix of town and longer Motorway / A road trips, which is only about 6mpg less than the 120d. Got lots of goodies, such as professional sat nav/entertainment (well worth it), reversing camera, and xenon lights which are really enlightening. Cant comment on the VDC as neither car had it. Any further questions, just shout.

Stay away from 4cyl N20 prior to June 2015.

Timing chain implodes engine.

Get the N55, turbo-6.

Recently bought 2015 f25 LCI 20d MSport. After a 7th gen Golf GTD it feels even softer. Wish I could find same condition (low mileage and with loads of extra equipment) 30d, but all 30d are either way more expensive or have double mileage (for the same money as 20d). 30d is much more fun to drive but costs are higher (tax, insurance, oil changes, etc). So I don’t regret that much having 20d. There’s always a possibility to have some extra hp and Nm with the reprogramming engine’s ECU. By the way LCI 20d comes with new b47 motor which is unheard about timing chain problems like it’s predecessor n47. And it has slightly better characteristics both on power output and sound.

OP is from Britain. They like their diesels. And I believe it's a bit cheaper than gasoline (diesel price). Also the diesel engine sips fuel compared to the N55. Not having Autobahn, makes the N55 redundant. Not that it's not a great vehicle, it's market related "best" vehicle.
If there were no speed limits, or if you would travel consistently over 75-80 mph for long periods of time on said autobahn, or on N American Highways, then N55 hands down.
