Trunk open Message - Hatch will not open

I have been to the Dealer 2 times trying to fix my 2014 BMW X3 Rear hatch. First time they thought it was the rear spindles, but did not replace them since they were not in stock. Ordered the spindles and had me bring the car back.

They decided it wasn't the spindles, but the Locking hatch lock/trunk lid lock. I do think it's related to the trunk not latching properly.
There are no error codes showing on the diagnostic.

Just got the car back from the dealer after they replaced the rear trunk latch.
I was able to open the trunk, put groceries in, close the trunk, start the car and the trunk open message appeared and my back up camera did not work. Trunk now will not open. Just makes a small movement and noise, but does not lift.

As an added bonus, my flashers go off with a noise that sounds like the car trying to lock itself when driving at 20 mph or lower.

Obviously, my problem isn't fixed yet. Has anyone had this happen, or know what the issue could be?

They did replace a reverse lamp bulb last week, in case that is related.
Thanks for any help you can give me. This is costing a fortune to fix!

Hi! Just wondering if you were able to figure this out! I have the exact same problem and I also just changed a rear bulb which seems like a crazy coincidence!

Has anybody thought about looking in the battery space in the trunk, first thing I would do to see if you have water in there this has been a long running issue with all of the X3 range.
Hope I am wrong but seems like the first thing the stealership should have looked at good luck !!👍

Yes - The fix ended up being the soft close mechanism. It has worked fine since they replaced that.

They didn't charge me labor since they had charged me for a new lock that I didn't need. The part was 687.00, but they charged me $355.
