Ipod Classic 2nd Gen. Supported by the X3???

I have been using my IPod classic 2nd Gen. since 2004 when I got my E46...then when I got my E90 my iPod has continued to work for me (less the charging of the battery) now that I\'m going to get my X3 I was wondering if the IPod Classic 2nd Gen. Will work with the interface installed on the X3??? I still use the iPod because for the most part I have mixed music, live concerts etc. So my files are large and don\'t have the space in my iPhone for all my music.
Any of you using the older iPod classic generations with the X3???

Doesn't work via USB I'm afraid. You're not the first to report this. Only option is to upgrade or use headphone jack to AUX

those old gen2 ipods I think were firewire only.

I currently use my iPod in my 09 E90 with the Y cable that came in the car...

This weekend I will get a chance to test drive the X3, and i will try my
iPod classic at that time as well, that way I will know if I need to buy a new iPod classic as well before I get my X3...

Hi,

Just received my X3 last WE. I also cannot have my iPod photo recognized, using the official Y cable. I just get the message `Do not disconnect´ on my iPod...
I just tried with my Ipad to check (not very practical I know to have the iPad located next to the gear shift) and it worked just fine.

Has anybody been able to make older iPod gene work with the Y cable? I am sentimentally attached to this iPod I purchased 5 years ago...

Try a standard Apple white cable.

When I test drove the X3 I took my Y cable and my regular white apple USB cable...The Y cable didn't seem to work but the white cable worked just fine I was able to see my playlists and control my 2nd Gen. Classic iPod with the steering wheel and the BMW audio system with out any problems...

I use my 5 year old iPod classic in my x3 and it works fine - album art and playlists included. One issue I've picked up is that the iPod tends to lock up every now and then and needs to be rebooted. I use the white standard cable. I tried the Y cable as well but noticed that album art doesn't come up with it.

Used the normal iPad cable with my ipod photo... Same result, did not work.
Maybe I should try with my old original iPod cable (which came along with my iPod 5 years ago). Other than that I have no clue what to do else...

Note: in case it might matter, I have the business navigation (part of the executive line in the Netherlands)

I have the prof NAV as well. By the way, I lost my original IPOD cable years ago and actually use teh IPAD cable...not sure if that makes a difference.
