Hi I would like to know how many km or miles do X3 owners get from full tank?

I'll start the ball rolling, my best is 630km or 391miles. 50% highway, 50% city and non-aggressive driving.

Was hoping for more mileage as the BMW sales guy was saying more than 1000km/ 621miles is achievable!

Please share your experience with this X3 20D fuel consumption. Thanks!

Your MPG does seem low- with a full 67 litre tank I work out you are getting 26MPG.
I've got the 3.0d and I get over 32mpg even with quite hard driving. 40mpg+ with very careful driving. On the few weeks where I'm doing short journeys in the cold it can dip below 30mpg.

my fc is indeed low then.
i had 18" stock wheels with this fc. and now with 20" wheels, it is even lower.

i went to the bmw agent and they said they can't do much as it's based on individual style of driving. but with my careful acceleration and braking, and never go over 100km/h, or 62mph, i don't think i can be classified as aggressive.

anyone had such fc problem and found solution to this?

We have 18k miles on ours and the average is 38mpg. (Stock wheels)


We did a high speed run from Austria to UK and averaged 70mph with 40.1mpg over 11 hours. (on winter tyres)

Even round town we still get over 30pmg.

So yes I would be concerned that you have a big right foot or a problem.
Is yours an Auto? (ours is) We regular drive 130 miles to Bristol and always get over 40mpg @ avg 75mph.

My 3.0D gives about the same consumption (26mpg imperial) on very short trips to take the dog for a walk so the engine is very cold which is the worst sitation for a diesel. Normal mixed driving with some fun included gives me more like 36 mpg.

Not sure what the range is on a full tank, but I am getting 36mpg in very heavy bumper to bumper traffic in my commute to and from work. This involves a couple of miles each end of my 40 minute journey where I can get up to 30 MPH. Average speed 20 MPH.
I never use ECO mode by the way!

What is the trip computer reading for your MPG?
I know you can get a cheap'ish Bluetooth connector that links into your OBD port. That might give you some insight into your poor mpg.

really envious of all your 36mpg.
i'm from tropical city and we get summer all year round, meaning 26 to 30deg so the car heats up like within 5min, that should be an advantage?

one more question: so far my car has run 6200miles. would the FC improve as I go over certain miles, say 10000miles?

or should I keep wishing?

Mine has 6.6 l/100km too. On a long trip I get close to 1000K on a full tank (that's in 'comfort').
In more day-to-day use, mostly commuting to work, it's closer to 700-800km (half of which would be in eco mode). I have now 250k on the trip meter with about 3/4 full tank.

Yes, but on the other hand the a/c use more power and warmer intake air also dicreases efficiency.

What tyres do yo have? What about what diesel do you use?

My consumption dropped by 1 l/100km after changing the stock Pirelli RFTs to non-rfts with low rolling resistance. I checked the tyre tests and chose premium brand with good overall rating and best rolling resistance.

If possible, try using premium diesel for couple of thousand of km, in here it is called "Pro Diesel" but I guess the name depends on the oil company.

I have not noticed lower consumption over more miles, same consumption range from day one.

quite surprising that your non-rft are more fuel saving than RFT tyres as I read that the latter are heavier so they should consume more fuel?
i'm running on 20" non rft, yokohama tyres.

i've used diesel from caltex, esso, both are giving me less than ideal mileage. i will try shell next.

so what tyres did you buy to replace the stock?
i'm going to change the s drive yokohama tyres, they are so noisy.

however my bad fc happened even with the stock 18" rft pirelli, so i don't think it's the wheels, for my case at least.

Every time i fill up the car, I add mileage on the odometer, fuel added and how much did the fuel cost to that site in my own car data.

Then that site just keeps up the data and shows it like that.

I am running 17" non-rft Nokia's.

I measured 17" stock Pirelli's and those Nokia's and the stock Pirelli's weighted 1kg more...

I quite don't understand how non-RFTs would be heavier in any case.

I've got about 42MPG over the first 1500 miles

Most of this is with cruise set at 73mph on the motorway (which is 70mph in reality ), the rest ~50-60mph on the A1.

I do generally turn Eco-Pro on but flick to Sport at roundabouts etc!

Wonder if the OP has the same size gallons? (American gallons for example are 80% the size of ours which would make my MPG about 34 to them)
