Hi,
I was Wondering, In the LCI X3 Equipped with Adaptive LED (Or Adaptive Xenon) the Fog Light Serves as the Cornering Light. My question is that since the Fog Light is LED not like the Pre-LCI which had the Swivel Reflector... Long Story Short, does the Cornering Light in the LCI X3/X4 illuminate the corners well? I have noticed that in the 2013 X6 with Adaptive LEDs the Fog lights do not have the Swivel Reflector and they don't really illuminate corners very well.. (Sorry if that made no sense lol)

I am not sure what you mean by Swivel Reflector. Cornering Lights on my '11 F25 35i (with Xenons) are your regular fog lights which illuminate either side when the steering wheel is turned at a certain angle.

A Swivel Reflector is that silver piece you find next to the Light Bulb itself...

I guess your concern is that the LED foglights might be more directional than the older halogens thus not helping at all in corner illumination? That's a valid concern...the old style ones I have on mine aren't super useful either...I'll have to check this on my parent's LCI X3.

If you take a look at this picture, there is a reflector in there, but LEDs are more uni-direction in nature.

It is a U.S feature that was not available in Canada. Don't think you could code it.

I know this may sound kind of like a dumb question but did you use the turn signal while testing the function? In drive , turn signal , then turn wheel? Or in reverse, while turning they may come on. Also, I don't believe they come on during the day but I have not checked. I know my e92 doesn't use the turning lights during the day while DRLs are the only thing on (auto mode).

Yeah you need to have the Adaptives... I dont know if you can enable it through coding, even if you did the Fog Light will light up but it just wont really light up the Corners due to the fact the Paraholic Reflector Thingy (Swivel Reflector) is not in the Fog Light Units...

WOAH! No they only function when in Automatic Mode and at Night or when the Headlights are on... Why would you need a cornering light during the day?! Lool that made my day

You can see the Swivel Reflector in this photo... The Swivel reflector is what helps the foglight illuminate the Corners (Without the Adaptive Headlights there wont be a Swivel Reflector attached to the Fog light)

I see what you mean now, the reflector has a extra piece on the inside to reflect the light outward.

Yeah but the thing is i still don't think that it works as good as the Cornering Lights in the Headlight Unit itself... Or do they work the same and illuminate the corners pretty well?

No, they don't work that well at all. My 535i has the cornering light on the headlight assembly, on the inside bulb, and even that does not work as well as my old Audi which use a 9006 bulb inside the headlight assembly for cornering light.
