Yesterday received new ceramic selector and immediately installed it in my Alpina XD3 (f25).
Everything is bolt-on, only required torx 20 & 25 and my small victorinox knife to release electric connectors.
Next upgrade is ceramic iDrive, but I'll replace basic one for the new sensor model and it requires me to re-wire two wires. Replace CAN-1 with CAN-2, to be exact. So I'll do it a bit later.

Thank you for your interest. To be specific, it's an XD3, not an X3.

Here is mine:

It is #033 of some like eight hundreds made up to date.

Thank you. It is a little bit difficult to balance between the upgrades I wish and the necessity to keep Alpina's exclusive interior in its original condition.
But for sure, ceramic controls will no way break the interior. The only problem is with the climate and volume knobs - they are different from the X5 (F15) and 5 series (F10) and cannot be retrofitted. We are still looking for the donor or other possibility to retrofit them.

By the way, original new alcantara console have been ordered from the factory more than a month ago - still don't have it yet....

Any update on installing the ceramic iDrive controller?

I made a complete facelift, exterior + interior.
That led to a controller replacement to a newest available version.
Temporary installed normal one, but the ceramic one from G12 (7 series) is already ordered and on its way.

Adaptive LED lights:

KAFAS upgrade (lane departure warning, collision avoidance):

New mirrors with blind spot warning and surround view cameras:

And the stainless steel start-stop button:

so the stainless steel idrive controller will be in the same style:
(sorry, this picture is from ebay, because mine is just ordered from the dealer and had not arrived yet)

And the only problem will be the climate control knobs. My friends did the experiments - it is not possible to retrofit ones form X5 or 5 series...

Thanks

PMed you, but will repeat here: Start-stop button is just from the 7 series (G12). It is about 5 minutes to replace it if you have at leas the basic toolset. Just find it on ebay and disassemble when receive. It is very easy.

Do you have a part number? Real OEM isn't very helpful for finding this.

Ahh alright. I'm about to do the retrofit to LED, but from halogen. I think mine is going to be a lot different than from Xenon to LED.

What year is your X3? You will have an interesting time doing the retrofit.

Okay, it will be much easier for you. The LCI already came pre-wired for LED/Bi-xenon. Alls you will have to do is run extra wires to ZGW.

Good to know! I'm waiting on a friend and my schedules to line up and then start pulling panels to take a look. I've got all the parts already from eBay, but either way it's definitely going to be a project haha.
