BMW Connected Drive

Hey guys! New to this forum here! Pretty cool stuff here. I'm still waiting for the arrival of my X3 28i... In terms of the Connected Drive, how long is it free for or does it require a subscription? I'm in Canada btw

Congrats! When does your X3 arrive? Where in Canada are you from?

Connected drive is very vague... It has to do with a lot of features included on your X3 such as BMW apps, BMW Assist, Service requests, SMS/Email integration and so on. For the most part they are free... There are a few things that require a yearly subscription with BMW assist.

Hope this answers your questions!

Actually, all those ConnectedDrive features cost $199/year, AFTER the first year. The U.S. folks get it for 4 years free, if I'm not mistaken.

What you're talking about is BMW Assist. Connected drive is different that has BMW Assist integrated into it

As a whole, Connected Drive consist of:

Mobile office text to speech
Top View Camera
Heads up display
BMW apps (facebook, twitter, internet radio)
USB integration
BMW Assist with concierge (requires BMW assist Subscription)
BMW Remote for iphone (subscription with BMW Assist)
Google myinfo (Subscription with BMW Assist)

Ah! Thank you! Makes a lot more sense now! fiddy yen: I'm from Edmonton, Alberta. It's going to arrive in the next week or two. It's been almost four months now... I'm dying of excitement over here. But I'm really disappointed that I couldn't get an M Sport Package on it.

By the way, did anyone else notice the price increase for the 2012 X3 on bmw.ca?

I'm not sure if it's free after one year of subscription in US.

Same as Canada... 1 year free and Remote app is free but requires subscription to BMW assist.

Garage List
BMW Assist consists of two parts - the Safety Plan and the Convenience Plan. It's the Safety plan that is free for 4 years in the US. The Convenience Plan (which includes concierge, BMW Online, Google search, 4 calls a year, etc.) costs $199/yr.
