Agreed, it's all about what ou can afford. Having said that we have gone for a 'poverty' spec 20d having initially looked at a specced 23d X1. If finances alow theres no doubt we would go or the biggest engine possible with the spec we are happy with...

There is no info on F25 residuals because they haven't happened yet. As for the 30d falling lower than the 20d, I can only presume tank531 means percentage not absolute value: the 30d will always command a slightly higher price than the 20d.

I test drove both, and bought the 3.0l. No contest, the 6cyl is a great engine from any perspective, not just as a diesel. Blows the 2.0l into the weeds. My wife has the twin scroll 2.0l in her 123d (150KW, 200hp), and it blows that away. Less lag, better sound, overall just better go and grunt. And I only have 900km up... My dad has a 320d, and tried this and was gobsmacked LOL...

For my 2pence worth.
Everything above about the power, acceleration etc. I agree with completely. To me the biggest difference is that the 3.0D is just so comfortable when 'cruising'. I know we all love pushing it around sometimes, but in reality, either because of traffic, fuel cost or just not needing to rush, we spend a lot of time travelling at more normal rates with little acceleration. At these times the 3.0 just feels confortable. Somehow it rewards you for driving carefully. I didn't get that feeling in the 2.0 I test drove. |
