Which Snap in adaptor? Confused...

Hi everyone,

Looking for a Snap in media adaptor. Need the one with the most functionality (music, calls, radio, etc...).
I have BMW F25 2012 with bluetooth, NAV. professional, applications and 6NR. I have iphone 4s.

Which snap in adaptor should I buy?

So far, I found 2 different one on UK ebay:
84212199390 (120 Pounds)
and
84212199392 (139 Pounds)

Which one do I need? Or...may be, there is another one for iphone 4s?

Searched the forum but could not find the right answer...

Thanks in advance!

Be very careful as the eBay auctions (including bmw direct) are mislabeled as "media/music" when they are the music version. I made this mistake and had to return and upgrade. There are three levels: standard, music and media.

Basically, you need the most expensive one. The part number you require is 84212218390.

This is the correct one to order

Has anyone had problems getting the snap-in adapter to work? I know I have the correct part (84212218390) but for both my wife's and my iPhones, the adapter will constantly lose connectivity with the phone; sometimes it will continue to charge but the ability to access music will drop and no recognized device is picked up on the plug-in screen.

I purchased my snap in adapter from my dealer (Irvine BMW in California). The first snap in apdapter kept losing connectivity like you mention. They replaced it...same thing on the second one. Third one worked fine.

I would only buy from the dealer because of this.

+1

When it comes to the electronics (and frankly most parts), I would take it to the dealer and have them install...

I have 84212199392, sold to me by the dealer. It's labelled "MEDIA SNAP-IN ADAPTER" on the box, and "MEDIA" in big letters on the unit itself. Works fine, does music, album art, but haven't tried video yet...

84212218390 and 84212199392 are the same MEDIA adaptors, the difference is that 84212218390 has some sort of ventilation so that the phone does not heat up.

In relation to the buy from a dealer comments and by way of piece of mind for those in the UK - the eBay like I posted is from Stratstone BMW in Hull, I have spoken in person to the member of the Service team that runs it and he was incredibly helpful. I doubt you would have any issue with returning a non-functional adaptor bought through them.

If you buy off ebay, how easy is this to fit yourself?

It is incredibly easy. It just snaps in. It takes literally 3 seconds.
