2013/2014 Steering Wheel
Obviously the M-Sport option adds the sport steering wheel. But is there any difference between the 28i vs. 35i? Or from 2013 to 2014? I drove a standard '13 28i (no packages) and the steering wheel felt very skinny. Could have been worn, or maybe that's the standard wheel on the base models.
Thank you. |

I have a 2014 28i M-Sport with the really thick wheel. I believe the non-M-Sport 28i for 2014 had the "skinny" wheel and the 35i models have an in-between wheel, thicker than base, but not as thick as M-Sport.
This is at least true for 2014. |

M-Sport option adds the M-Sport steering in both the 28i and 35i. BMW (2015 X3) lists the standard steering wheel (non M-Sport) as "3-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function sport steering wheel..."
In 2011 (before M-Sport option was available), there were 2 types of steering wheels, standard and the SAP (sport) steering wheel. After M-Sport was released, there were 3. Always thought 2012+ F25s only had the 2 types of steering wheels (not including with/without paddles). Maybe someone with a 2012+ 28i (non M-Sport) can confirm.

Not sure of LCI X3 but in X4 non Msport Xline comes with Sport steering with paddles. I feel Sport steering just right thickness vs Msport steering which is very thick. I have seen X3 with basic thin steering it's awful!
