Hi,
I just got a 2016 X3 i28 xdrive with 5K miles on it but over the past 1K miles I cannot get past 21.8MPG, I do probably 60% Highway 40% city and i've tried being on ECO-Pro as much as possible.
Is this normal? I came from a 2007 335i and i was getting about the same and I was driving that car harder than this one.

My consumption was 16l/100km（14.8 mpg) in the city and 9l/100km(26.3mpg) for highway. My car is 2012 28i 3.0l. Your car's engine is 2.0T, and indeed your car consumed less gas than mine, I think your mpg was normal!

Adding 200kg/400lbs, larger frontal area/"worse" Cx and AWD comes at a cost....

MAN in 335? BMW claims that 8-speed gives equal mileage to MAN - but I don't believe that if MAN used "properly".

That does sound low. Hopefully some more 28i owners will respond to this thread?
I have a 3.0d auto X3 and it gives me around 34mpg around London and rises to 37mpg if i drive sensibly in the suburbs/motorways.
I would expect your 2.0T petrol to be getting a little closer to me

Given that it is a heavy 4 x 4 with a gasoline engine with a turbo charged 2 litre engine and the mileage profile of 60% 40%, it sounds about right.

I have a new to me 2013 x3 28i with 30,000 miles on it.
In the city I only average about 16 MPG in stop and go traffic.
On the highway I get 28 mpg; with cruise control at 72 mph I occasionally see 30 mpg.

After about 1000 miles driving I am averaging about 24.8 MPG in mixed driving.

I drive with a very light foot and try and maximize mpg.

I had a 328i until March and used to get low 30's (UK gallon) mpg with approx 60% city driving. I would have thought mid 20's would be reasonable after allowing for xDrive and the heavier car. Does fully.com provide any useful insight?

Managed 50.7 mpg (42 mpg US) in my X3 20d SE with 17" wheels (190) with 8 speed auto on Thursday morning.

That was starting from cold for around 50 miles with town, some start stop traffic on the highway and some cruising at 60 on some twisty roads

Can't really complain, engine has just passed 1800 miles and the MPG is superb with it.

I have 2300 miles on my 2016 X3 35i and have averaged 24.8 mpg in mostly highway driving. I would expect higher mpg from the X3 28i.

Our X3 28i averages about 11.6 l/100km (20.3 US MPG, 24.3 Imperial MPG) combined, mostly city. Highway is about 6.5l/100km assuming no headwind.

Turbos make for great EPA numbers but this being our fourth vehicle with a Turbo, it really kills city driving MPG.

I have a '13 2.8i with 40K miles on it. I uasually get 23 to 24 MPG with my typical 50/50 city/highway driving. If I'm mostly city I have seen as low as 19 MPG for all highway I typically get 26.5 MPG, My best highway tank was 28.2 MPG. Note when my car was new I used to verify the iDrive MPG vs. miles/gas added. they usually came in within +/- .1 or .2 MPG so I stopped doing the math and just go by what iDrive tells me.

I have a tune and an aftermarket exhaust and a very heavy foot and right now for the last 20,000 miles or so I am averaging around 16 mpg.

As you can see in my signature I get a little under 20 mpg average. My driving is about 50% highway and 50% trafficy-suburbs.

I've hit 26mpg on highway trips (at 120km/h) and had tanks as bad as 17 mpg when I drive only in the city.

I just changed out of the crappy LS2 run-flat tires that came on the car, and it seems that was good for at least a 1mpg improvement, but it's too soon to tell. I haven't updated my Fuelly in a while, but most of my tanks now come in at 20+.

It's a 1-year-old 28i w/ 25k kms on it.

Below is my fuelly signature showing my 3.0 litre diesel (258 bhp) mpg figures over the past 31 refuels.

Interestingly I use Comfort mode the majority of the time with the occasional use of Sport mode when I need to get past someone quickly.

Yikes!! I have 28i N52T and I am now averaging about 16 city, 25-28 highway, and averaging 21.8 combined. 14 mpg city seems really low.

I agree - the f25 X3 can do very well. I have the rear wheel drive 1.8 sdrive manual version and just completed 500+ miles on 3/4 of a tank, basically 3 longish runs, comparing the on-board computer with tank to tank brimming. Almost all dual carriageway at 65 indicated (60 to 62 on gps, cruise) I achieved 54.2 uk mpg or 55.7 on the computer. Interesting that the 8 speed auto produces a similar outcome. After filling, the computer said the range was 849 miles...

my petrol 4x4 2.0 Turbo uses average 11 liter / 100 km. (60% town, 40% highway).

This is average 21,4 MPG (USA) or 25,7 MPG (UK)

If you drive a lot, better get a Diesel.
