If you're mechanically inclined and have the time and tools it's definitely doable yourself. Did mine on jackstands.

I bought new OEM hardware just in case the old was in bad shape, the existing hardware was 100% fine so I reused them.

thanks for the response @e90705

would you say the guide by Turner is pretty accurate to your install experience?

It's very similar the F30. But it's a great guide. The vrsf doesn't have the mounts to bolt the two bolts to the chassis.

VRSF F25/F26 N55 X3/X4 Downpipe Development https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1496738

It's also been well over two years so far so good. I'd hate to go back to a OEM dp 😀

was it all easily accessible from underneath?

I never would have tried to the my f30 awd car. it was way too troublesome for me to try. I did my CP, IC and turbo Inlet on the f30 and that inlet was a huge pain in the ass.

You should replace the gaskets and it's worth getting new hardware, at least for the cat to midpipe joint, they rust out badly in some cases. Some cat less DPs come with new bolts/nuts though. The gaskets are one time use and I would only use OEM, they are cheap even from the dealer.

Did catless DP on my N54 E82 before getting my F25, it's not a complicated thing but can be tedious. Best to disconnect the O2 sensors above by the way. Just crack the pre/post O2 sensors from below then pull the whole thing out including the sensors and wires.

If you don't, the wires will end up twisted, and I honestly found it easier to drop them with the sensors anyway.

I was able to torque the O2 sensors to the new DP out of the car, just put it in a vice or wrap one end in a towel and use a foot to keep it from moving while you torque the sensor with a crows foot adaptor.

finally got around to doing this. took about 3hrs on a lift. had never done one before so it was a learning process. it was difficult but easy at the same time.

did a video and will do another video comparing the before and after 1/4mile times on a bm3 stage 1 flash.
