A Different Battery Issue - Non-BMW

Our 2nd car, an always-reliable Subaru Outback of the same vintage as our '11 X3 had a battery problem this morning, and would not start. I jumped it off of the X3, which has never had a battery issue. I was tempted to tell my wife, who normally drives the Outback, that she must have a bad driving profile, but I like sleeping in the big bed too much.

Our independent mechanic tested the battery and said that the battery itself is fine, and that it just needed to be charged. His opinion is that a combination of short driving distances when the Outback is driven, several days of not being driven at all, and many consecutive days of single-digit overnight temperatures had drained the battery. Sound familiar?

yes, does sound familiar. With all the extreme cold temperature here(in eastern Ontario, Canada), -25C(-30F) for 4 days in a row really drain my battery. I charged it once this week and before any major snow hits, decided to drive it more on a highway to save my battery.
