Ambient lighting in doors & front grill
Although they have nothing to do with each other, figured I would combine the two in one post.
I have the "ambient lighting" in the X, when I was driving home from the dealer I noticed that there was not a light on in the drivers side door. (In the plastic pocket of door.) Is this because there is no light in this door, or could the light be out? Would warrenty cover this? Or is even worth replacing, I hate for someone to tear my door apart for a tiny light. Thoughts? Also next time everyone washes their cars, make sure the front grill is not "bubbling" I have an area on the outside of the kidney that has bubbled, looks like water got in between the coating and plastic (or whatever it may be constructed of). Going to try to get the dealer to replace. |

Plastic pocket refers to the lower storage bin in the door, correct? Mine doesn't have a light there either. The lights in that general area I'm aware of are in the exterior handle, on the bottom of the door, in the footwell, and the backlighting of the buttons.
Thanks for the heads-up on the bubbling. Hope it's easy to fix. Any chance for a pic to see what we're looking for?

I would also like to see photos of this. Trapped water and a good freeze is not a good thing.

That does not look good. What is actually bubbling? Paint? I am going to check mine.

Apologies and thank you. My door bins do have lights in them as y'all noted -- I'd never noticed as the cleaning clothes I keep in there blocked them!

I believe it is the paint/coating thats bubbling, its a shame that the grill is plastic. Oh well, most cars are 50% plastic now anyways. But anyway, with the hood closed you can see the warped refection, it doesn't look nice.

Talk about poor QC! If stuff like this is getting by, makes you wonder what we can't see that is getting by!

Ordered a grill yesterday, dealer seemed to believe it has to come from Germany. Will let you know how it works out.
WTT, +1. The ambient lighting in the drivers door hasn't worked from the start, really makes me wonder how well the car was checked over at both factory and dealer. |
