Hid's errors on low beams

Hey guys,

I dont know if this has been discussed, but i decided to install Hid's on my 2013 X3 that came with no xenon option, when i installed the hid's, all i got was bulb out warnings and low beams flickering constantly. So here here is what i did to fix the situation, i disabled all warm and cold checks on everything in FRM bank 3090, then i changed the low beams to Xenons and also Led, yes... if you change the low beam to xenon only, they still flicker, but also changing to led worked, so now they do not flicker, if this is any help for anybody, im glad.

Well peeps!! the fat lady sings!!!!!!! here is what you do;

FRM bank 3060 Al set to Halogens, change it to Xenon 100%

viola!!! drove the car for 45 minutes, no flickering, no bulb out warning, all is good!!

also... you can change the intensity of the high beams and parking lights as well

parking lights POS, change it to 100%, nice bright parking lights!!

3060 FL, change it to 100%, nice bright high beams, really bright!!

anyways... hope it helps out, it was a mission, but well worth it.

I plan on retrofitting projectors on my halogen headlights. Before proceeding with that I decided to replace the halogens with H7 HIDs in the mean time. Bought mine at theretrofitsource. I had problem with the HIDs as they wont light at all, Removed cancellers and connected ballast directly and they still won't light up. Tested the cancellers and ballasts directly to the batteries and they work fine. I searched the internet and stumbled on this thread. I followed the instruction by the OP and changed FRM 3060 U_EFF_AL: Halogen__13.1V to Xenon 100% and it worked. But it seems it's a half baked measure. Every time I would start my car, only 1 bulb would light. I would then turn the switch OFF then switch it back ON to low beams, this time only the other bulb would light, I would continually do this for 3 minutes to 5 minutes before both bulbs would light at the same time. Once they both do light up, they stay like that until you turn off the engine. The next day, it would be the same routine again. Funny thing is both cancellers are not installed but I would get error code on the light that doesn't light up. Once both bulbs light up, error codes disappear. Could anyone please tell me If there are still settings I need to code? I would love to retrofit projectors but having this problem, I would like to fix this first before investing on projectors that would have the same problem. Thanks...

I have read somewhere that I need to VO code $522 if I need to replace the headlights with OEM xenon. Is this true for just projector HID retrofit on the same halogen housing? Will adding 522 to VO, change the pin assignments of the wiring harness? Please advise. Thanks...

If your installing an aftermarket HID kit in place of the Halogen bulb instead of a complete headlight assembly, by coding 522 will change some of the other pin assignments. Depending on the HID kit it may be smart enough to fool the FRM so u dont need to recode. Worst case is no code 522 & disable lamp monitoring function.
