What are the options for getting a key cut?

Hello:

The price of a new key appears to be equal to a car payment if I go to the dealer. What other options do I have?

I do have access to a BMW mechanic but I know for certain he has no key cutter in the back of his station wagon.

Please and thanks!

Andy

Buy a new one from the dealer. I was supplied only one key when I bought my CPO X3 and the only recourse was for the dealer to order a new one at their cost. I looked high and low for one - you can buy the blanks without the electronics but that doesn't help much. Good luck.
