iDrive SMS - calling sender...

Has anyone else tried to call the sender of an SMS through the iDrive when paired with an iPhone?

There is a button to call the person that sent the text message, however in my 530d and now my X3 this button dials a completely spurious number rather than the person that has texted me...

I have an iPhone 4S...

Cheers

I saw that behaviour a few months back as well. I figured it out to be the iMessage texts that gave the incredible strange numbers. If I receive a normal SMS text everything was good.

Thats interesting. Pretty much everyone I would call (that texts me) is on an iPhone so thats quite irritating...

I havent looked into this in depth but on the basis that it is iMessages causing the issue, this would make sense as the messages dont technically come from a phone number they are just sent from an account (apple id) over your data connection, as Im sure you know they can originate from an iPad or iPod without a phone number to call back on.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense - I hadn't made the association. I'll try and call someone from a standard SMS and see what happens. I wonder where the car gets the spurious telephone number from though! I'll have a play later on.

On a completely unrelated note, I had to read the manual yesterday to figure out how to enter Sat Nav locations as favourites and then assign shortcut buttons to them... what a faff!

This is fixed with the latest iDrive update.
