HPDE / Driver's Ed in X3

Anyone do a track day in the X3?

I'll probably do few laps in the morning and at lunchtime in my X3 / Sport 35i. I'm guessing the brakes are the weak spot, and I'll probably run tire pressures up a bit and monitor roll-over.

Any other tips?

Yes, just one!

Don't do it!

It might be a road biased 4x4 but a track star it's NOT.

Are there any BMW CCA chapters that allow an X vehicle for HPDE?

Found out recently that X3 brakes are the same as the ones found on the 328i, so braking performance will be compromised ultimately due to weight.

I was surprised that the X3 35i uses brakes from the 328i as well.

If you do the performance school delivery, you get to take the x3 out on their auto-X course and I have tried the x5 too on BMW corporate organized events. These vehicles are surprosingly very competent...even more so that many cars I have driven. Regarding a HPDE, definitely monitor the brakes / fade and tires.

I have and yeah the brakes are the weak point but had a great time on thunder track at the new jersey motorsport park. It was a great experience! Pushed it so far that I was melting the tires and had chunks hitting the wheel well when I was driving back down to DC lol.
