Heated steering wheel

Can I have the heated steering wheel installed at the dealership? Or did it need to be put on at factory?

Some BMW owners have retrofitted a heated steering wheel (see links below). Whether your dealership is willing and able to do this and how expensive it may be is a question you might raise with your dealer. I anticipate that if you have the dealer or independent replace the steering wheel with a heated model and the switching and trim for same, the parts and labor cost may approach the cost of the cold weather package from the factory plus the retrofit would not have benefit of a factory warranty.

Ok thanks. I was hoping I'd just pay the 500 bucks like I would be if I ordered it as a stand alone option. Doesn't sound like that's how it works. Well in a few years I know to load it up when buying again LOL.
