Folding mirrors?

Was hoping my mirrors folded on my 2016 X3 / F25 when locking, as with previous Bimmers.

There isn't a button by the mirror adjustment / window controls, so does my car not have foldable mirrors or is it something i need to check somewhere else?

Thanks

Unfortunately, if you do not have a button by the adjustment switch on your door panel, your car does not have the auto-folding mirror option.

Just thought, i suppose that also means my nearside mirror doesn't turn down to show the kerb when reversing

It doesn't but i'm assuming it's linked to the mirrors folding or in my case not

I'm new to the forum and new to the X3 line (had a 1992 325i that I loved eons ago). I'm also trying to figure out the folding mirrors in these cars. I've seen some that have a button that has a symbol of a mirror on it and some that don't have the symbol but the button is there. Any reason for this? Does the presence of the symbol mean that it has folding mirrors while no symbol means it doesn't have it? Sorry if this seems like a basic question but I couldn't find much online about this. Thanks!

I thought they all had folding mirrors, it's just they are either motorized or manual. Even with the motorized ones, I wouldn't recommend folding them often unless parked on a narrow street since constant folding them in and out may cause them the fail or break. I've seen several of them where the internal metal part snapped.

i just assumed all of them would fold now on the premium marques like BMW, as it's pretty standard on other high end brands like Merc, Volvo, etc. Thought it was standard on BMW to be honest as it was on two of my old Bimmers

Looking forward to working out what is standard and what can be tweaked easily using coding on my X3.

That's what you get for assuming...

Neither of my older BMWs (2001 525i, 2007 Z4 ///M coupe) have electric folding mirrors and I really don't care, not a feature I'd use much. My X3 does have them and I've use it once.

Look at the coding posts for what can be tweaked.

Use https://vindecoder.eu/bmw to find out what options your vehicle came with.

Can be retrofitted but its a it of a pain - the LCI (> 2014) mirrors are pricey - just did it myself a while back - some re-pinning of wires required and need the folding switch as well

Can you post Info on the mirror retro ?! I don’t like the pre face mirrors because the glass swoops up and I need to move the mirror further out than my other cars for me to see behind me properly. My brother has an LCI and the mirrors swoop down and gives much better vision behind me
