Please help finding correct part #

The driver's side door of my wife's 2012 X3 pocket is disintegrating and incredibly sticky/messy. I am not sure what the part is called (door pocket?) but I need to order a new one.

I went to RealOEM but couldn't figure out the correct part #. Here is a link to the site:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...-X3_35iX&mg=51

The last 7 digits of VIN are #L975479

See photo below for the bad piece.

If you happen to have instructions or a video on how to remove/replace the new part#, I would be appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

Anthony

My drivers door handle is getting gummy, but the passenger side is fine. Not sure if it's from the previous owner with sun screen on their hands because I hear that will do a number on rubberized plastic parts, but who knows. I'm planned to install ceramic window film since the solar rays are not too good for the interior with those large windows.

It appears that there are 2 primary fixes available. One easy and one difficult.

The difficult one is to remove the door panel and then drill out some connections before attaching the new pocket armrest. The product that was linked from amazon would be a good option; however, the install appears to be very daunting when reading the reviews and watching the video.

The easy option which I would prefer is to simply insert a small cover as an overlay so that it covers the old one but looks good. I haven't found/confirmed this exists but have found several listings on ebay that appear to do this. However, I have emailed the sellers to confirm.

If anybody has any info on a product that can be inserted (my interior is beige), I would appreciate it.

I thought the type you listed also require removing the old one 1st, which takes some work, though maybe I'm wrong?

Check out the video and links to these products which appear to be an overlay. Not sure but would welcome input.

Those do look like you remove the flat piece toward the back and clip the new one in. It will make the opening smaller, but at least it would cover the gummy part. The stock handle is also a storage pocket for something like a cell phone, but I've never used it to store anything.

Curious to know how these replacements work out since they go over the top of the stock one and will therefor be a little higher.

I think aliexpress was only linked for the video how to install it. I stay clear of aliexpress myself, it can take several months to get a refund if you don't receive an item or it is not as described. Ebay is much quicker to resolve disputes.

If you see the same product on ebay, I have no problem being a guinea pig. Just point me in the right direction.

The ones you linked on ebay look the same as the aliexpress one. Just make sure they are being shipped from the USA. For $20, it's worth a shot.

Home Run. Best $20 that I have ever spent.

I have taken photos showing before and after. No tools required.
30 Seconds to do max.

Instructions: Slide up the panel/trim piece that is flush with the door. Once that is removed, drop in the new part until it snaps in place. Done.

Here is a link to seller's auction where I bought it.

Nice going looks great and there is no way you would know its not OEM even if you had a side by side of the replacement and OEM. I doubt anyone would notice or even care that the lip is a tad wider. Looks like a new car! Thanks for posting the results!

Thank you for this. Based on different threads this is not an easy job. Your solution looks great and is much easier. I will try this too and report back
