LL01 vs LL17 on N20 engine?

So I've been using ll01 0w-30 BMW branded oil since day1.

According to one article the LL17 "Replaces the LL-14 spec for N20, B38, B46, B48, and B58 engines. This appears to be a minor update to the LL-14 formula and designed for improved emissions."

Thoughts on this or should I just stay with 0w-30 ll01?

Ya know, there's always something new or different coming out, that's what keeps the world turning. There's nothing wrong with what you've been using, for me, I'd stick with it.

LL17 replaces LL14 as an update to reduce the LSPI that direct injection turbo vehicles encounter (similar to SN Plus)

(probably reduced calcium/sodium)

I would use this over LL14 personally. But that said, I'd also not fiddle with it and would be going with a 0w30 or 5w30 with the SN Plus/SP designation as they are way more readily available and cheaper.

You should be running 0W20 the N55 calls for 0W30 and it’s much more expensive. If it helps I run pentosin 0W20 in my brother 16 F25 N20 and I run red line 0W30 in my 12 F25 N55, my distributor has a list of BMW approved oils I can post up if that helps.
