Pathway Lighting Key Fob

Hey all, I just discovered today that you can activate pathway lighting by using the key fob.

For those who don't know, you can activate it by quickly pushing the diamond shaped button and this will turn on the headlights, tail lights, and door handle lights. This works regardless of what setting you have the headlamps set to, just make sure not to hold down the button for too long or else the alarm will go off.

Not only that. But in an emergency you can follow the row of lights on the floor to your nearest exit. As you are not guaranteed to sit in the same seat, An easy way to remember is to count the number of rows between your seat and the nearest exit.

Does X3 without keyless entry have diamond shaped button? Also if you press that button, does it work when you are entering your car and how long they will be on if you leave the car and press that button?

+1

even my key fob doesn't have any diamond shaped button. It has unlock, logo/lock, tailgate open and speaker/light symbol button...I have Comfort access keyless entry.

I don't have keyless entry either. The button I'm refering to is the same button as the car alarm/imobilizer which is below the tailgate button.

Yes, the button works whether you are entering or leaving your car, all it does is turn on all of the exterior lights, it doesn't lock or unlock the car.

The duration of the lights depends on the "pathway lighting" setting under the lighting menu in iDrive.
