BMW switches from Exide to East Penn

In late 2013, I understand that BMW changed OEM battery manufacturer from Exide to East Penn. Does anyone know why?

With all these issues with cold weather starting is there a problem with Exide batteries?

East Penn or Exide?? What should I buy? Any help would be appreciated.

I am wondering if Xbimmers are upgrading to higher capacity batteries upon replacement and if it is recommended.
