Wait for LCI or put name on Macan waiting list

Tempted by the Porsche Macan but have had so many BMW's not sure I want to swap brands. Will the LCI update of X3 be a worthwhile improvement I wonder ? X4 just too chopped at the back for me.

The Macan will likely be expensive in a decent spec. I expect I'll go for a 35d but if they introduced a 50d....:-) but they won't.

Similar decisions myself, have put down a Macan deposit. LCI wont be changing all that much on the X3 and I fancy a change. Agree it will be pricier but spec'd out a max 30d or 35d is very very similar money for like for like.

I also just fancy a change of interior style etc and want a premium interior on a smaller form factor. Wish the X3 was more X5 quality.

No bad choices here just personal preference and costs, happy shopping!

Personally, I would never buy a 1st year design German car.

last i heard... Macan orders for 2014 are quickly running out at the OPCs... some may have a year's wait...

am tempted myself but at 60k GBP for a decent spec... think i would rather keep the x3 and get a 2nd hand 991 instead!

I get nice lease rates on BMWs, the Macan simply won't come close pricewise so it's most likely an X3 for me, an X5 is possible instead but the X3 is faster....

BMW need to get on with the LCI to stem loss of sales. Guess they are hoping X4 will do that but I'm not so sure as I'm expecting it to be more like Macan money in which case a lot of people will go with the Porsche. Early reports say Macan a great drive. Residuals will be very strong as order book already long.

For LCI I'm hoping for a bit more power and upgrade for interior quality.

Not sure why the X4 will be more than an X5 ?

As the base Macan will be cost somewhat more than equivalent the X3 3.0d for many the X3 will continue to be a cost effective choice.

Mind you I like the idea of buy a 911 with the change!

Well the LCI lights look good (very X4 - saw one this morning) and the 35d is faster than the Macan D - so.....

Macan pricing

Looked at a V6 Macan and turbo

Equipped like the X3:

8spd
Premium pack
Technology pack
Navigation
Pano roof

V6 $75,000
Turbo $97,000
X3. $48,000 x28i, 240hp, same as base Macan, X3 is larger than the Q5 that the Macan is based on.
--Almost equivalent space to the Porsche Cayenne, I owned a Cayenne S Hybrid--not a sports car, traded in for 2013 Frozen Blue M3. I'm a big Porsche nut but I like BMW

Whilst BMW has been busy trying to fill every niche in the market the competition has caught up. Great vehicles now from Land Rover and Jag etc. BMW seems to struggle lately to make really class leading cars, although 3 series still fantastic. Let's hope products like M3 and M4 bring back a bit of the old sparkle and that the LCI X3 is more than cosmetic.
