Need Help Bleeding Brakes on X3...
I just finished replacing the rear drums/rotors and pads on my '04 X3 with 55K miles. I decided to do a brake flush while I was at it...
Started with the left rear caliper and had an assistant pump the brakes until the reservoir was empty. Then filled and pumped until the air bubbles we're nearly gone (couldn't bleed completely). Then went around the car, front right, rear right, front left. The breaks are still super soft and I think the pedal can go all the way down. I'm sure I screwed something up but can't figure out if there's another bleed point I can try. I've read the BMW TIS online manual, but can't make sense of it all. Any help would be appreciated! |

You bled the res dry? And you can't get the last of the bubbles out?
Just a suggestion to try. The typical procedure with BMW brake fluid changes is to keep adding fluid to the res so it never gets too low, and the mechanic does not introduce air to the system. I would suggest an internet search on next steps to take after the mechanic has run the res dry and caused bubbles. If there isn't anything out there, my first attempt at a fix would be to get a dyed break fluid so you can tell it from the new stuff you just put in, and re-bleed the system using the typical procedure. Or just take it to a mechanic. |
