Service Engine Soon Light????????????

We have had this come up several times on my wifes 2007 X3. Each time the code shows its either the gas cap or something life fuel vapor? I have changed the gas cap with a new one. It only happens once every 5-6 months then nothing. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Probably a gas attendant not putting the cap back on correctly every now and then....but then of course this is an X3 so it can be ANYTHING. Do you know what the code is?

A code would really help. I get the SES light once in a while as well but goes off after few hundered miles of driving. The code that it shows is P135B which is because of the knoch sensor but again it goes off by itself so at this point I haven't made much effort to fix it as the knock sensor replacement is a PITA.

Are you using 93 octane?
