The X3 is for my wife and she loves the seat extenders in my M3. If it wasn't for that feature, there are many 10's of X3's to choose from with those options, mileage, and price. It's the damn seat extenders which is making the search tough!

Yes, the thigh support is part of the sport seats which came with the msport package. Honestly, that's the one option I wish my X3 had.
I just went through a similar search as yours: low miles, Bluetooth, backup camera, heated seats, leather. Best piece of advice I can give is to use a vin decoder prior to driving around looking at vehicles on lots. Unless it's a BMW dealer they rarely know all the options and which ones were part of which packages, making descriptions vague and uninformative at best... outright wrong and misleading in some cases. Google "BMW vin decoder" and a bunch of options pop up. There are even apps you can download. Assuming you're in the states then unless a previous owner got some options as standalone you'll want to look for msport package, premium package and tech package. Cold weather package adds the heated seats and steering wheel. Oh, and speaking from experience... I was dead set on msport for the seats and body matched moldings as well as the premium audio. But after finding the one I eventually bought I realized I was okay with the standard hi-fi stereo and the HUD made up for the msport package. If she drives a few she may find other options she likes more and will be willing to compromise on others is what I'm trying to get at.

You don't need to have msport package for the thigh extension seats. You can get vehicle with the sports activity package option. I have those on my x3. They're called sports seats.

I have an '11 (not for sale) with the Sports Activity Package. In '11 the Sports Seats were included in SAP, and mSport was purely cosmetic - the fun stuff was in SAP. I don't remember which year the Sport Seats were moved to mSport. As suggested by Asianok, use a BMW VIN Decoder. Sports Seats are 481, or S481A, depending on how it is displayed.

I completely forgot about the sports activity package. What else did it include? When I was shopping I really wanted the cosmetic aspects of the MSport so never really looked into the sports activity.

Appreciate all the feedback and guidance guys. So it looks like I'll look for an X3 with the Sport Seats (min), or preferably the SAP.
"Sports Seats are 481, or S481A, depending on how it is displayed." Thanks! Still looking! Last edited by Owens84qv; 07-24-2016 at 06:18 PM.. |
