We're averaging around 34 mpg in mixed, but mainly urban, driving at the moment but managed an average of 45 mpg on a weekend trip to Yorkshire about 10 days ago, 600ish miles mainly motorway with around 10% urban, that was with heated seats and aircon on all the time. It would have been more if we kept to sensible speeds on the motorway but the X3 is about as aerodynamic as a (good looking) brick and mpg drops noticeably at the higher end of motorway cruising speeds.

Got an update from my sales guy today it appears that mine is now scheduled for build w/c 09/03/15 (wk 11) but may be built earlier .. So poss next week He says that they are going to get it prioritised for shipping if they can due to the factory dropping the ball on it He reckons that I should get it mid/late April Or then maybe not .....

Maybe with the 3.0l diesels the higher torque means less need to be heavy with the right foot. I wouldnt call myself a thrifty driver and even if I was there is no way I could ever get near BMWs claimed 47mpg combined figure.

WorksopOWLS: Great looking automobile . Which one is it exactly ?
My dealer just wrote to me again. He says my car will be produced, as scheduled, in week 10 and should be at the dealer (in Hungary) in week 14 or 15.... let's wait and see.

Its the X Drive 2.0D SE in Alpine White.
With all the upgrades in the LCI decided that I didn't need anything else. Will be a big step up from my S Drive X1 |

build date was 07 Jan. Arrived at dealer this week so 7 weeks.
Although I assume that they make them in batches and wait whilst they have enough to ship across the ocean to Europe The X1 S Drive was only the SE as well. It handles well apart from in the snow where in was awful. The x3 has Nav, Leather seats, 6" screenI drive etc so this will be a big improvement on its own. In the dealer they had two cars side by side one, basic white and one metallic white. I could not tell the difference. Last edited by WorksopOWLS; 02-26-2015 at 02:44 AM.. |

The mpg with the 2l diesel engines definitely improves once they're bedded in properly, some people have reported that it can take up to 10k to get to maximum mpg. Admittedly this was the old N47 engine rather than the new B47 but it wouldn't surprise me if it's very similar in this regard On our old 118d (N47) we noticed a marked improvement in economy as the mileage went up - we did one of our regular trips to Yorkshire shortly after getting it and got mid-40's mpg, a couple of years and 20k miles later we were getting mpg figures in the high 50's.

Absolutely agree - won't be something I try using again. Accelerating to overtake felt positively dangerous because Eco Pro was interfering (even displays a little icon indicating that you should relax your foot on the accelerator). Not worth it for a 3.5% increase in range.

Tried Eco Pro for the first time tues night and it is rather bizarre. If you are happy cruising at 65 in the slow lane then it might suit you but otherwise it just interferes too much for very little reward.

If you are serious about tracking your car's average mpg, I suggest you use fuelly.com.
It is free and you just record your speedo reading and the amount of fuel put in each time.

Excellent - bet you were starting to wonder if it'd end up being one of the first G01 models rather than an F25 LCI
