how big difference with summer/performance tire over stock all season?

After 13500KM, im still rocking the Goodyear all seasons...i was wondering if summer/performance tire is worth it.. being north the border they tend to be more expensive as well.

plan is to swap these 19" tires to summer tires then get 18 wheel+tire for next winter.

so bottom line is, how big of a difference in driving? i do enjoy driving ...cruising along and cornering.

My X3 came with performance tires that lasted only about 8000 miles they were great on dry roads but had no traction on wet or snowy roads. I went to all season tires that were OK but did not do anything real well. This year I am running winter tires and some new Bridgestone performance tires that get put on next week. I have one of the few 35i's with staggered wheel sizes. Yes the tires do make a difference.

i mean really lol

u cant drive in winter season with summer tires, tread pattern is different and you wont have any traction

all seasons tires is exactly for all seasons ( light to average snow) if your winters are all snow then winter tires are good choice.

The Conti's that I had were all over the road on grooved pavement. They felt like my motorcycle going over the metal bridges on the Alcan Highway.

I had Dunlop RFTs for winter on my 128i, and Michelines on my 335i. Both were great and a bit cheaper than the Bridgestones.

I find the summer performance tires have notably better grip in dry road cornering, rapid acceleration, and braking. If you enjoy "spirited" driving, threshold braking, and pushing it out of the corners, you'll like the summer tires. The X3 is still an SUV and won't go through the curves as easily as a sedan, of course, but you can get through them very aggressively -- probably as aggressively as anyone should really be driving on public roads -- and the summer performance tires add to the capability and experience.
