Why did you choose the M package?
Just when I thought I was done adding 'packages', the wheels on the M package really caught my eye, though I don't care about the rest of the package. If you purchased it, what was your primary reason?
I called the dealer for the hell of it to see how much the wheels were alone. They said they are 1k more than the M package...wtf |

I had already ordered mine with the older Sports package, until I heard about the M Package which included more stuff, so I called my service rep ASAP and got it changed in time.
EVERYTHING in the M package was worth it for me; seats, body kit, wheels, steering wheel + paddle shifters, etc... It's the only package where I didn't have to even think about getting. |

Originally I wasn't too hot on the M Sport package, but I really wanted 19 inch rims and the sport seats. The M sport package is a fairly good value proposition for all that it includes, so I just went with it and now I can't imagine not having it. The feel/thickness of the steering wheel alone is worth the extra $$$. Also it differentiates the car from the plethora of non-M sports out there.

Like others I thought the msport package was just lipstick.
I wanted the paddle shifter which (in Canada) is only available with the msport. The package does add the bigger wheels, performance control, better seats and anthracite roof liner. The roof liner really makes the car feel more premium than the standard beige roof liner. It also includes the sport auto transmission but to be honest I don't have a clue what that means other than the paddle shifter. All other X3 come with the shiftable trans gears. One other bonus (again in my opinion) is that msport looks more masculine than the non-msport.

I did NOT take the M package, because the bodykit in the same color as the body makes the wheels look smaller (or the wheel arches bigger), even if you put on 19 inches. Bigger wheels is not an option for me with the road conditions around here. I am also concerned that painted body kit parts are more vulnerable to gravel projection than the black plastic. The other stuff (e.g. sports seats, M steering wheel, paddles, etc) you can get also separately.
PS: This being said, I am fully aware that De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum |

It was a checkbox ... your supposed to click checkboxes?
More is better ... right? P.S. Funny you should mention the smaller wheel appearance ... when I saw the car for the first time I thought, gosh the wheels look a bit small ... they are ok now I am used to it. However, I also think the car looks better one colour head to toe ... each to their own!

I ordered the M Sport simply because I was driving a 535d M Sport (virtually the same engine) and I liked the package. I use the paddles regularly albeit the design is now improved. I bought it nearly new at the time and wasnt disappointed as it carried a few nice extras. The extras have changed but still a nice package.

I bought M-sport mainly because of the looks. I love the body colored accents and definitely did not like the black plastic on the non M-sport models.
And the steering wheel is also amazing.

You see we were looking at a top spec X1 23d MSport...then sat in a X3 and realised the BASE spec X3 was nicer and better equipped than an X1. I'm sure an X5 is nicer again...well I can tell you we owned a current shape X5 and it was a class higher than even a high spec X3....in fact the best car I ever owned. |

Mainly for the sporty looks of the aero package and the fact that the trim pieces are the same color as the body, the 19" wheels, thick M steering wheel amongst others. It feels a bit more special and is not terribly expensive if you were planning on getting Sport package anyway. If you get it you will not be disappointed.

I didn't get it for 2 reasons, 1- We can't get it in combination with Jet Black ( I don't like metallic Black) 2- In canada when we order the premium package it includes the x-line trim, and you don't get a discount on it when you order M-package, in the states it's 2 seperate options. I'm also not a fan of the 19's on the M, but I do love the 309's that are no longer offered in canada

I chose the M-Sport because of the anthracite headliner, the fat steering wheel, love the split spoke 369M wheels, M door sills and most of all for me was the front and rear bumper design. I find the look to be very aggressive and in line with the M cars. I do appreciate the sport package design, but in the end the M-Sport design won me over. Heck I think they all look great honestly.

I got the MSport for the wheel, seats, performance control, dark roof-liner (with pano roof) and body kit. To my eye the black (more like dark grey) plastic trim of the non-MSport looks basic and hard to keep wax off.

I LOVE the steering wheel. It's actually made it so I can't stand to drive a rental. The steering wheel on other cars seems so insubstantial. I also really like the sport seats. I don't use the paddle shifter that much. The other stuff to me like the headliner and the side rails are cool, but things I could probably do without, as the are minor cosmetics. I guess it's nice how it comes together.
However, the biggest think for me is that Carbon Black (only available on M sport) is in my opinion one of the coolest paint colors I have seen on any production car, from any maker. I love how it goes from black to blue depending on the light. If only it weren't such a PITA to keep clean. But when it is clean, I just love looking at it. The downside is sometimes I feel like a poser since its not a real M car...but that is minimal. |

To get away from that huge plastic looking black band on the back bumper. Plus the front looks more angry ..i like that.

Damn it, I have to figure out what I can drop so I can add the M. I'm thinking stand alone nav without the tech package...xenons instead of convenience...almost there.
