2007+ 6spd Auto Transmission Software Update? Worth it?
2007 X3 3.0si, the transmission in D is very sluggish off the line. I have read that this is a common issue, and that and update to newer software might improve the smoothness of the 1-2-3 shifts, and gentle starts in Drive.
I find that if I push the car a little harder off the line, in Drive or in Sport, that it operates smoothly, but clearly this is not a desirable solution... Just want it to behave more smoothly under normal conditions. I also find that slowing into a 90 degree turn is very jerky. Has anyone updated to newer trans (and DME) software through the dealer or an indy shop, and actually seen an improvement in low speed performance? Apparently there was a TSB for this, a while back, but this is old information, and car is clearly out of warranty now (but only 54k miles ) Quote:

Just acquired same model/year car and read other threads that speak of this TSB with varied results over the years. I, too, will be most interested in any future threads. 57K on the odometer, LOVE the ride but just threw a SES code two days ago. Air intake boot? Read something about these failing and I pray it's NOT an 02 sensor. Performance remains excellent despite the code. . .Obviously, I haven't had it pulled just yet.
