vibration coasting down hill
I have a 2011 X3 I just put a set of winter wheels and tires. I took a bit but finally got them balanced perfectly smooth as can be right up to 80 MPH, except going down hill. When I back off the throttle at highway speed coasting down hill I still have a strange vibration. I is not horrible but noticeable. I did not notice the vibration with the stock wheels and tires.
Has any one else experienced this issue. Any suggestions? |

I assume all tires are the same size and pressures are correct. I sense the wheel rotations could be having an influence on the drivetrain. Hopefully not transmission windup.
I'd double check tire pressures, as a first reference. HighlandPete |

Thanks for the reply, the wheels and tires are brand new General Altamira Arctis. I bought them from tire rack they confirmed the size. I have 18 stocks rollers, the winter wheels are 17 but the overall diameter is the same. Tire pressure is correct.

Maybe check the front rims. It could be that when you are slowing down that there is more pressure on the front wheels and that could cause the shaking? But it could also be warped rotors or warped brakes. Get them checked out as well
