N47 Engine - Timing Chain issues?
Hi, my Brother (who has an '09 E90 with 65k miles) just phoned me to say that his timing chain has failed.
It appears to be a well known issue on the N47 engine built between ~'07 - '09 particularly. Suppose most of the 2.0D N47's fitted to F25's are still relatively low mileage and hence there may be limited failures to date? Do we know if this problem is definitely designed out? Cheers!

Wise to run with the extended warranty (Drivetrain as a minimum) once out of the 3-year warranty, if you want to have peace of mind. Then with xDrive I'd be running under a warranty anyway. HighlandPete |
