Bouncing Idle when parking
Hi Guys, new to the forum. Thank you in advance and sorry if this question has been already asked, I did try to search the forums.
My 2008 X3 2.5si idle will bounce on occasion when I come back home from work (engine warm) and park the car. My parking spot is tight so I need to reverse in then drive a little forward, turning the steering wheel to full lock. Sometimes the idle will bounce between 200 to 1000 RPM, right after I shift into Drive for my final parking maneuver. Has anyone experienced this? My concern is that if I don't have my foot on the brakes that the X3 could possibly surge forward. Again, many thanks in advance! |

i had a similar problem on mine. everytime i was stopped (red lights, traffic, etc) the idle would bounce and feel like it give a nudge to go forward.
the dealer replaced both vanos valves and it fixed the problem. 2008 3.0i |

I had a similar problem with my 2004 X3 2.5i, check the engine cap, make sure it's sucking not blowing. for me the PCV valve was building up sludge making pressure in the engine head and the idle stuck wasn't steady
